Couples Intensives

Couples intensives offer a dedicated, focused space to slow down and work more deeply on your relationship without the interruptions of weekly scheduling. Rather than spreading the work out over months, this format allows us to spend extended time understanding your patterns, accessing deeper emotions, and beginning to shift how you experience one another.

While an intensive is not a quick fix, it can create meaningful momentum and clarity, helping you move forward with greater insight, connection, and direction.

What Is a Couples Intensive?

A couples intensive is an accelerated therapy experience designed for deep progress in 1 or 2 full days. Instead of weekly sessions over months, you’ll immerse yourself in focused work to connect, heal, and grow with your partner.

What We Work On

Intensives are personalized but often include:

  • Communication breakdowns & recurring conflict

  • Emotional disconnection or intimacy issues

  • Trust repair after betrayal or infidelity

  • Navigating big life transitions (parenthood, relocation)

  • Rebuilding after feeling stuck or distant

  • Childhood trauma or attachment patterns affecting your relationship

What’s Included

  • Initial consultation call

  • Online relationship assessment and preparation guide

  • Extended couples therapy sessions (with breaks)

  • Somatic tools and nervous system support throughout

  • Text and phone support during your intensive days

  • Post-intensive summary, take-home tools, and recommendations

  • Referral or follow-up options if needed

What can we expect from an intensive?

Every relationship is different. While many couples experience meaningful insights, increased emotional connection, and momentum during an intensive, no specific outcome can be guaranteed. The intensive is designed to help you better understand your relationship patterns, build emotional safety, and create opportunities for new experiences together. Lasting change depends on many factors, including each partner's willingness to engage in the process and continue applying what is learned afterward.

While the extended format allows for deeper focus and momentum, the work is still paced carefully and guided by each partner’s capacity. The goal is not to rush the process, but to create a space where meaningful experiences can unfold with support and intention.

The purpose of an intensive is not to resolve every issue in a relationship, but to create focused, supported time to understand patterns, access deeper emotions, and begin shifting how you experience one another.

Who are intensives a good fit for?

Intensives are best suited for couples who are both willing to engage in the process, slow down, and explore their patterns together. This format works well for those seeking focused time to better understand their relationship and create meaningful shifts in how they relate.

When might this not be the best fit?

While intensives can be a powerful format, they are not appropriate for every situation. This approach works best when both partners are able to engage in the process with a willingness to reflect, participate, and take emotional risks.

An intensive may not be the best fit if:

  • There is active substance abuse or addiction that is not currently being addressed or stabilized

  • There is ongoing abuse (emotional, physical, or psychological) or a pattern of coercion, control, or fear in the relationship

  • One or both partners are unwilling to participate, highly resistant, or attending only to appease the other partner

  • There is a desire for the therapist to “fix” the relationship quickly or determine an outcome (e.g., whether to stay or separate) within the intensive

  • One or both partners are in acute mental health crisis (such as severe depression, suicidality, or significant instability) that would be better supported with ongoing care

  • There is an ongoing or undisclosed affair, or significant betrayal that has been very recently disclosed and not yet stabilized in therapy

  • There are significant individual trauma responses that require more gradual, individual-focused work before engaging in extended couples sessions

If you’re unsure whether an intensive is the right fit, we can discuss your specific situation and determine the most supportive next step.

Investment

A couples intensive is a financial investment in your relationship and in the process of working more deeply and intentionally together. Choosing this format often reflects a willingness to prioritize your relationship in a tangible way—to set aside dedicated time, energy, and resources toward understanding one another and creating meaningful change.

For many couples, this investment represents a shift from staying stuck in familiar patterns toward actively engaging in a different way of relating and moving forward.
